Alan Olsen: I’m visiting here today with Benji Brown. He is the founder and CEO of Tesuji Games, How did how did the name Tesuji Games come about?

 

Benji Brown: It’s a type of move from the game of Go, which is like 1000 year old game, from China from Japan. It’s one of my favorite games there to Tesuji move is a clever move. So I want to have a clever game company. So that’s really where that came from. Yeah,

 

Alan Olsen: And the inspiration behind the game company was

 

Benji Brown: I started off as a CTO prior to CCG. I was CTO for a dating app called Wim that we launched in New York, San Francisco and LA did really, really well. But I found that as I worked through that process, you know, I love connecting people having them date each other. It’s really cool. But I really wanted to connect people through play through games. And I’ve been building games prior to that making that dating app. And so I really want to start my own company to Tesuji to, to make games that connect people through play.

 

Alan Olsen: And then to CG is focusing on what kind of games right now.

 

Benji Brown: Right so and the last several years, we started in 2017, we’ve been building out our first product, which was Rumble, which is a group video chat and live streaming game and game show platform on iOS, Android and web. kind of think of it like Tic Tock plus Trivia HQ, plus House Party. And we kind of taken that platform and we’re actually really stepping into the non fungible token game, the NFT game, really cryptocurrency leveraging web three, to connect the address the wallet holder into the system that we have within Rumble, and really let them profit have a lot of fun battling it out. So looking forward to that

 

Alan Olsen: NFT’s are gaining popularity, but not all the listeners know what that means. Can you walk us through what is an NFT?

 

Benji Brown: Yeah, for sure. So with cryptocurrency, which, you know, came out back in 2009. With Satoshi it’s really evolved so far. So instead of it just being a decentralized way of transferring value from one person to another person, we now have a programmable blockchain. So ability to put programs Turing complete programs on top of this blockchain, which is really interesting. So instead of just me moving some coin from a person a to Person B, we can now control how that coin moves from person to B, A to B, we now have a new concept of allowing these coins to have a specific identifier to them. So you can start adding a lot of metadata on top of these tokens, these non fungible tokens, and then really start attaching a lot of logic to them. So we can now gamify how you move these tokens from person to person, we can look at the token and kind of build whole worlds upon the metadata that’s stored within that token, we can control through, you know, fun, gameplay, how those tokens interact with each other. And so Rumble is you know, pretty fantastic tool that we have app that we got that really lets people connect through, you know, video chatting, playing a game show together. And now we have NFT’s to really enrich that that whole experience, you know, people themselves are taking NFTs which are putting at this point, or a lot of times just JPEGs, associated with a token on the blockchain. And they’re buying and selling them. And really, they are gaining hyper values like crazy values for some of these NF`T’s. But what’s cool is that you have provenance, you have ownership over these, over these tokens through the cryptography of what the blockchain provides. And so you can kind of invest in cents, invest into the hype, or invest into the coolness of a certain type of NFT. And so that’s really what’s happening currently in this space is that people love a certain art style, they love a certain utility or play action. And so with Rumble, we’re going to be stepping into that and really leveraging it to have a really awesome time where our players are, in a sense, becoming investors into our ecosystem.

 

Alan Olsen: How big is your community of investors right now or players?

 

Benji Brown: The what?

 

Alan Olsen: The players, how many players?

 

Benji Brown: We have several 1000. And it’s pretty fun how they’re interacting. Along with Rumble, we also have a an educational product, so we’re kind of a dual purpose. We love connecting people through play. And then we also want to really have this philanthropic push of educating children. So we have our product tracks, which is an augmented reality. live streamed TV show Kids TV show, in a sense, but coupled with a game world, so kind of think of it like Animal Crossing, plus Sesame Street live. So we’re leveraging both of those things to really kind of bring people together just to have fun with NFT’s but also to educate children.

 

Alan Olsen: I love this, Benji and also keep track of all the change in technology and the movement is is an achievement in itself.
