Top Ski Resorts in the U.S.
Are you looking for the top ski resorts in the U.S.? December is not just about Christmas. It’s also when the ski season really picks up and kicks into full gear. Depending on where you live, you might get some opportunities to hit the slopes in November, but for the most part the good runs don’t really hit their grove in the US until December.
If you have a ski vacation in mind, but you’re still not sure where you’re headed, then check out this list. It features some of the best slopes in the country and, of course the powder is amazing. You can’t really go wrong with any of these choices. If you’re lucky enough, you can give several of them a try.
Telluride Ski Resort (Telluride, CO)
This is a great spot for all skill levels, which makes it a popular choice for diverse groups of skiers. It offers a vertical drop of 3,845 feet that can be reached by ski lift, along with 125 separate trails. It’s not easy to reach, but it’s well worth the trip for those with a hunger for adventure.
SUN VALLEY Ski Resort (SUN VALLEY, ID)
Now in its 77th season, this is the oldest resort in the country. But it’s still a top choice out west. One of the best things about Sun Valley is its low profile. That usually means smaller crowds and open runs.
There are more than 2,000 acres of slope space and a 3,400-ft drop. All in all, this is a great resort for anyone looking to time on the slopes.
VAIL Ski Resort (VAIL, CO)
What experienced skier hasn’t heard of Vail? With about 350 inches of snow every year, Vail has a lot to offer. For starters, it provides more than 5,000 acres, 193 trails and 31 lifts that will keep you busy all day long.
This is a great place for high-level skiers and boarders, but Vail is also notorious for its school to help those less accomplished or beginners.
SNOWBIRD (ALTA, UT)
How could you go wrong in a place that gets about 500 inches of snow every year? You couldn’t. The fittingly named Snowbird resort in Alta, Utah is one of many great ski locations in the Beehive state for those who want their vacation to include the white stuff.
The powder is epic and if you just want to ski this is place. It doesn’t have a lot of nightlife, like Park City, Utah, but the slopes are unbeatable.
SQUAW VALLEY (SQUAW VALLEY,CA)
With 450 inches every year, 3,600 acres of terrain, and six peaks, Squaw Valley won’t leave you disappointed. Here you get open bowls, groomed trails, classic steeps, terrain parks and even pipes for endless fun.
It’s also perfect for boarders and skiers of all levels, and when you get off the slopes, there are plenty of fun things to do in town, as well.
Taos Ski Valley (Taos, NM)
New Mexico might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of skiing, but those who have experienced Taos Ski Valley will tell you otherwise. Hidden away on the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and far from the hot desert of Albuquerque, this resort offers some of the best skiing options for high-level skiers and boarders.

The American Dreams show became the solution, first as a radio show and now with YouTube videos as well. Always respectful of interview guest’s time, he’s able to give access to individuals information and inspiration previously inaccessible to the first-time entrepreneurs who need it most.
They can listen to venture capitalists and successful business people explain first-hand, how they got to where they are, how to start a company, how to overcome challenges, how they see the future evolving, opportunities, work-life balance and so much more..
American Dreams discusses many topics from some of the world’s most successful individuals about their secrets to life’s success. Topics from guest have included:
