Top Places to Live When You Retire

Is retirement in your near future? What does your perfect retirement look like? Will you be spending the remainder of your days on a sunny beach somewhere? Want to spend your time with family? Ready to travel the world, or maybe take up some new hobbies? Whatever your dream retirement looks like it’s important to have the right plan in place.

Planning for retirement takes careful consideration and you need to factor in several things.

Location, Location, Location
One of the biggest decisions you have to make when you retire is where you’re going to live. Of course, you will base this decision on several factors, including climate, proximity to family and cost of living. Everyone is different so one person’s priorities will likely differ from the next person. That being said, every location offers different pluses and minuses so you have to weigh what matters the most for you when choosing your retirement location. In any case, these are some of the best places to call home right now, according to Money magazine when you hang up your suit for the last time.

Best for Golf Fanatics: Falls Church, Virginia
If golf is a big part of your retirement plans then Falls Church, Virginia is perfect. You will find a great mix of military courses, private golf clubs and public courses, with reasonable pricing. You should never have a hard time getting a tee time with more than 165 courses nestled within 30 miles of town. It’s a golf lover’s paradise.

Best for Water-Lovers: Palm Coast, Florida
Whether you like the coast for the sand, the water, the sun, fishing, or all the water activities, this is right up your alley. In addition to the oceanfront beaches you will also find a network of canals flowing through the town, which connect residents with the Intracoastal Waterway. Water lovers always find happiness in Palm Coast.

Best for Urban Enthusiasts: Hoboken, N.J.
Want to spend your retirement enjoying the finer things of life, like museums, art galleries and theaters? Then Hoboken is just the place. You can always find a dose of culture here no matter what day of the week you’re looking.

Best for Lifetime Learners: Marysville, Ohio
Enjoy a good book? Always looking for opportunities to learn something new? This is the place for lovers of learning. That’s because Ohio allows all residents 60 or older to enjoy classes for free at any of the 23 community colleges and 13 public universities located around the state. Marysville is just 30 miles away from Columbus where you’ll find Ohio State University. There are 30 other universities located nearby Marysville, as well.

Best for Outdoor Adventurers: Broomfield, Colorado
If you can’t get enough of the great outdoors Colorado is your dream location for retirement. Broomfield features the majestic Rocky Mountains as its backdrop, and it’s within close proximity to the Flatirons rock formations and Flagstaff Mountain. There are many parks in the area, including Chautauqua Park and Eldorado Canton State Park. You can go rock climbing, rafting, camping, hiking and in the winter, Skiing. What’s not to love?

The American Dreams show was the brainchild of Alan Olsen, CPA, MBA. It was originally created to fill a specific need; often inexperienced entrepreneurs lacked basic information about raising capital and how to successfully start a business.

Alan sincerely wanted to respond to the many requests from aspiring entrepreneurs asking for the information and introductions they needed. But he had to find a way to help in which his venture capital clients and friends would not mind.

The American Dreams show became the solution, first as a radio show and now with YouTube videos as well. Always respectful of interview guest’s time, he’s able to give access to individuals information and inspiration previously inaccessible to the first-time entrepreneurs who need it most.

They can listen to venture capitalists and successful business people explain first-hand, how they got to where they are, how to start a company, how to overcome challenges, how they see the future evolving, opportunities, work-life balance and so much more..

American Dreams discusses many topics from some of the world’s most successful individuals about their secrets to life’s success. Topics from guest have included:

Creating purpose in life / Building a foundation for their life / Solving problems / Finding fulfillment through philanthropy and service / Becoming self-reliant / Enhancing effective leadership / Balancing family and work…
