What Things Do Successful People Do to Start Their Day?
What Things Do Successful People Do to Start Their Day?
The old adage goes: the early bird gets the worm. Does that mean the birds that have been out late and decided to sleep in miss out? Surely there are enough worms to go around for all the birds, right? The fact is, worms would prefer to stay underground all the time, but when the grass and soil get wet, the worms have little choice but to surface in order to get enough oxygen. The most common time for this is in the morning when the soil is wet, thus decreasing the available oxygen. The late-night birds, or night owls if you will, could end up without any breakfast. So what does this have to do with life?
Beating the Early Birds
The idea that the early bird gets the worm has been around for decades and it’s as applicable to the business world as it is to nature. Of course, there are successful people who sleep in, for sure, but when it comes down to it, many of the most successful people start their day-long before 8:00 am. In fact, if they were hungry for worms, they would have a good chance of even beating out the early birds for their breakfast. That’s because while the rest of the world is sleeping in, getting additional beauty rest, successful people have already been up for several hours getting things done.
Personal Matters Matter
Interestingly, however, many of the most successful people don’t get started on work the right away. In fact, they use the wee hours of the morning to accomplish many other tasks. Let’s face it; successful business people are busy. Their workday is long and arduous. Once the workday begins they don’t have much free time for anything else. Therefore, they often use the early morning hours to take care of personal tasks.
• Get in a workout – Starting your day with exercise is always beneficial for both your mind and body. The studies regarding the benefits of exercise are countless. Not only does exercise improve your physical fitness level, but also help improve your emotional and mental well-being. Simply put, people who start their day with exercise are generally more successful.
• Unplug – Some of the most successful people in the world are found in the tech industry. Yet these same people start their day by avoiding technology altogether. They start their day by doing other things, like exercising, meditating, reading or writing, or a number of other activities that don’t include technology.
• Plan and Set Goals – Successful people don’t become successful without a plan. They start their day by making goals and setting a plan to reach those goals. This helps give their day a vision and a focus, which makes it easier to succeed.

The American Dreams show was the brainchild of Alan Olsen, CPA, MBA. It was originally created to fill a specific need; often inexperienced entrepreneurs lacked basic information about raising capital and how to successfully start a business.
Alan sincerely wanted to respond to the many requests from aspiring entrepreneurs asking for the information and introductions they needed. But he had to find a way to help in which his venture capital clients and friends would not mind.
The American Dreams show became the solution, first as a radio show and now with YouTube videos as well. Always respectful of interview guest’s time, he’s able to give access to individuals information and inspiration previously inaccessible to the first-time entrepreneurs who need it most.
They can listen to venture capitalists and successful business people explain first-hand, how they got to where they are, how to start a company, how to overcome challenges, how they see the future evolving, opportunities, work-life balance and so much more..
American Dreams discusses many topics from some of the world’s most successful individuals about their secrets to life’s success. Topics from guest have included:

IRS Is a Lot More Open to Compromise These Days
It used to be that if you owed a large debt to the IRS you didn’t have a great chance of catching a break. Even though the IRS has always been able to compromise, at least a little, the tax agency has never been really eager to do so. Some people might not even be…
