Which College Majors Will Lead to Satisfying Careers?

 Medical Laboratory Science

About 97 percent of people who work in this field find their job meaningful, even though the median pay is only about $61,500. Although you might not get rich pursuing a degree in medical laboratory science, you will likely find your career to be very satisfying.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Coming in at number nine is one of many degrees in the medical industry that makes the list of top majors that lead to the most satisfying careers. Eighty-one percent of ultrasound technologists, vascular technologists, and echo-cardiographers find their career paths to be satisfactory.

Early-childhood and Elementary Education

Those who study to get involved in early childhood education will typically never find great wealth in their chosen career, but most people in this line of work are happy with their career, with 81 percent expressing positive sentiments.

Dental Hygiene

While being a dentist is said to be one of the most stressful jobs, working in the dental field is not all bad. In fact, 82 percent of those who study to become dental hygienists, dental hygiene instructors, or dental office managers are happy with their careers.

Nursing

Another medical career comes in at number five, with nursing being a popular degree for those looking for a fulfilling career. Eighty-three percent of those who work in the nursing field find their job to be meaningful.

Respiratory Care

Helping others is a common theme on this list, and what could be more helpful than working in the respiratory care field? Those who study to become respiratory therapists and other similar positions find their work to be very satisfying.

Clinical Laboratory Science

With a satisfaction rate of 84 percent, those who work in the clinical laboratory science field are also happy with their work, for the most part. Among the most common jobs in this field include clinical laboratory scientist, laboratory technologist, and laboratory supervisor.

Religious Ministry

Becoming a pastor, an associate pastor, or even a senior pastor is very satisfying for 91 percent of those who pursue this career path. While you won’t earn a lot of money, you will find great purpose in your work.

Community Health Education

The most common jobs in this line of study are wellness coordinator, patient-health educator, and nonprofit-program coordinator. Eighty-four percent of people in this field find their work satisfying as they can help people with real problems every day.

Keep in mind, these college majors will change from year to year.  Another important factor is choosing a college major that will help you land a well paying job that will also result or lead to a satisfying career?  Not all degrees will do both, other neither.  Another consideration when choosing a college major, is what are you good at, or in what subjects do you typically get good grades?  Getting an undergraduate degree with excellent grades, can lead to an advance degree in something you find our later is both a major you like and one in which will lead to a satisfying career and pay.

The American Dreams show was the brainchild of Alan Olsen, CPA, MBA. It was originally created to fill a specific need; often inexperienced entrepreneurs lacked basic information about raising capital and how to successfully start a business. Alan sincerely wanted to respond to the many requests from aspiring entrepreneurs asking for the information and introductions they needed. But he had to find a way to help in which his venture capital clients and friends would not mind.

The American Dreams show became the solution, first as a radio show and now with YouTube videos as well. Always respectful of interview guest’s time, he’s able to give access to individuals information and inspiration previously inaccessible to the first-time entrepreneurs who need it most. They can listen to venture capitalists and successful business people explain first-hand, how they got to where they are, how to start a company, how to overcome challenges, how they see the future evolving, opportunities, work-life balance and so much more..

American Dreams discusses many topics from some of the world’s most successful individuals about their secrets to life’s success. Topics from guest have included:

Creating purpose in life / Building a foundation for their life / Solving problems / Finding fulfillment through philanthropy and service / Becoming self-reliant / Enhancing effective leadership / Balancing family and work…
