Transcript of Ravi Swaminathan of TaskHuman by Alan Olsen, Host of the American Dreams Show at Impact’21:
Alan Olsen: I’m visiting here today with Ravi Swaminathan. And Ravi, welcome to American Dreams.
Ravi Swaminathan: Thank you so much for having me Alan.
Alan Olsen: So we’re here at the Impact Global Venture Summit. And I’ll tell you, I am so excited you were on stage earlier today talking about your new company that you launched called TaskPeople. . .
Ravi Swaminathan: TaskHuman
Alan Olsen: TaskHuman, TaskHuman. And tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind this idea and your model.
Ravi Swaminathan: Yeah, thank you, again, thank you for having me. So part of the inspiration for this was I’m just a big fan of one on one connections. And I’ve just been the beneficiary of so many awesome conversations, and so many people, mentors, coaches, you know, however you want to label them, you know, they come into your life and just give you this nugget of wisdom. And they’re there for you when you need them. And so I’ve always been a big fan of, you know, how do you learn from people? And how do you spend more one on one time with experts? thinking through what matters to you and learning one on one? And so I’ve always had this notion of, how do we how do we bring this type of one on one help at a, you know, a massive scale, and then hundreds of numbers. And so I’ve been thinking about TaskHuman for a while now along those times. And, you know, particularly this, you know, this opportunity in 2017, you know, just kind of came on my lap, and I said, you know, this is the right time, I’ve got to start the company. And so I ended up just on a whim, you know, filing for filing for incorporation. And then, you know, here we are four years later, so, so one TaskHuman is a one on one coaching app, you use it like Google, you know, you just basically open the app and tell it, hey, I want to learn yoga. So on Google, you get a lot of articles to read and videos to watch, right? And it’s amazing that you know, the entire world that’s written is all indexed and brought to you by Google on TaskHuman. And we don’t give you articles or videos to watch, it’s actually connects you live, you know, to a real live expert. That is an expert in that topic. So if you type in how do I lose weight, you don’t get articles and videos, you actually get a coach who can help you think through how do you lose weight, you can also say things like, I want my pet is driving me nuts, right? And you get a pet coach. And so it’s really a live directory. It’s a live network of human professionals that you can video call for all those moments in your life, where you feel like yeah, I need you know, I don’t want that article or video. It’s too complex. I want to talk to somebody. Right? So that was the inspiration behind TaskHuman. And is to bring a network of people always at your fingertips.
Alan Olsen: As you’ve launched this, and what stage are you right now you started seed stage in 2017. And are you now actively building the community?
Ravi Swaminathan: Yeah, you know, we have almost 1000 coaches from, you know, almost 20 different countries all over the world. So we serve as consumers all over the world, our consumers are literally in 45 different countries. And so we’re sort of at, I would say, Series B stage, you know, if that makes sense for the audience. So you typically have seed stage, you know, you’re still kind of figuring out that idea. Series A would be when you know, that there is demand for your product, right? It’s often called product market fit. So we’re past that. And now we’re at the stage where we’re just scaling the company, we know it works. We know there are a lot of happy, you know, customers out there that we’ve serviced. And now it’s more about finding more, you know, our customers and more happy You know, people to serve So, so we’re sort of a series between A and B, Series B type of company.
Alan Olsen: So walk us through it person that wants to become involved, either as a coach or user, how would they go about that?
Ravi Swaminathan: It’s an app on your phone or tablet. So if you’re an Android, or an iOS, you know, iPhone, top, you know, iPad, whatever mobile device you have, just go to the App Store, Google or Apple and search for TaskHuman, TaskHuman, one word and download the app. And that’s how you get involved as a consumer. You’re going to have instant access to a network of coaches covering so many topics in everyday life, whether it’s a physical fitness, you want to learn yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, or challenge yourself with calisthenics. We’ve got coaches who can help you one on one also have a lot of mental well being topics. So you want to meditate, breath work, managing stress, you know, things like that, coaches that can help you with that. Spiritual coaches, we actually have pastors, ministers, chaplains on the platform. If you’re processing the loss of a loved one, you know, we actually have grief coaches who can help all the way to even you know, we joke About this pet coaches, so if your pet is running around eating your pillow, and you need some help, you know that we have, we have people who can help with that. So it’s a pretty comprehensive platform for the consumer. If you’re a coach or you want to be a coach on the platform, simply go to taskhuman.com, and apply to be a coach. And, you know, we’ll contact you shortly. And you know, if you, if your resume is strong, we’ll give you a call and set you up for an interview process. And once you pass interview, you’ll be set up on the platform and you can receive calls from consumers all around the world. So it’s a great way for you to build your practice if you’re a coach, to augment whatever you have, you know, in your in your everyday work. So if you’re a yoga teacher, and you have four hours of work at a yoga studio, and you have four more hours that you’re just free or happened to be free, you can put that on TaskHuman and you’re going to get calls from clients from all over the world.
Alan Olsen: I love this and I you know, I’ve said to many people that today we live in the era of the collaboration, and your model fits perfectly. What is needed in the world to help to connect the human family together so that we’re helping and building our family.
