Interview Transcript of: The Midas Touch | Dixon Doll

Dixon Doll: It’s a very cyclical industry. And you can have a discussion about what is the nature of the length of each cycle, the last period of time when the public markets were this healthy, was back in the 99 and 2000 timeframe. I personally don’t think that the market is as out of control now or is, you know, you know, is overly exuberant, back in 99 and 2000, we had companies going public that didn’t have any revenues. And they’d be getting, you know, several 100 million and valuations or more, and there was no drop, no supporting business fundamentals. One of the biggest differences between now and back in 99, and 2000, was that the, the IPO market now has gone global. And you have all these Chinese companies or these Indian companies going public. In the New York exchanges. We had a very vibrant amount of IPO activity in in Asia this year, on on for some non venture backed companies. That was one of the best years that the industry has seen in a long time. So I’m quite optimistic that the good times are going to continue to be experienced here. But just with this difference now that we have to think about the market as a global phenomenon, and these companies they need to build up their distribution strategies and their technologies, and they need to get out into all the corners of the marketplace where they need to be and they need to do it quickly.

The American Dreams show was the brainchild of Alan Olsen, CPA, MBA. It was originally created to fill a specific need; often inexperienced entrepreneurs lacked basic information about raising capital and how to successfully start a business.

Alan sincerely wanted to respond to the many requests from aspiring entrepreneurs asking for the information and introductions they needed. But he had to find a way to help in which his venture capital clients and friends would not mind.

The American Dreams show became the solution, first as a radio show and now with YouTube videos as well. Always respectful of interview guest’s time, he’s able to give access to individuals information and inspiration previously inaccessible to the first-time entrepreneurs who need it most.

They can listen to venture capitalists and successful business people explain first-hand, how they got to where they are, how to start a company, how to overcome challenges, how they see the future evolving, opportunities, work-life balance and so much more.

American Dreams discusses many topics from some of the world’s most successful individuals about their secrets to life’s success. Topics from guest have included:

Creating purpose in life / Building a foundation for their life / Solving problems / Finding fulfillment through philanthropy and service / Becoming self-reliant / Enhancing effective leadership / Balancing family and work…
